Loving my BlendJet 2 portable blender!

The ad of BlendJet had been popping up on my Facebook feed for some time already and while we have a blender at home, this personal blender caught my fancy because it looked so easy to assemble and clean (unlike our blender here that has to be disassembled and parts washed separately). I also thought it was a great idea for blending stuff on the go, when I am at the office all day, or traveling.

I finally gave in and ordered right after New Year.

The BlendJet 2 comes in 26 (so far, and still growing) different colors and designs. One of the latest designs they came up with was the Lisa Frank line of blenders and if not for the fact that I had already placed my order for one, I probably would have gone for a Lisa Frank design. So, here is my very own BlendJet 2 portable blender in HOT PINK!!!

There are some great improvements on it since the original BlendJet was introduced. Here are some of its major features:

* Patented Turbojet technology – Other blenders have blades that are meant for blending. BlendJet 2’s stainless steel blades are offset from the center of the base. This creates a tornado effect that blasts ingredients against the jar “at 275 times per second”, according to their website, resulting in better blending results. This makes it 5 times more powerful than the original BlendJet, the website claims. Look at my first attempt at making a smoothie out of a papaya slice and two bananas.

My daughter has tried blending with ice cubes in them (we recommend using Pulse mode first to break down the ice cubes into smaller ice chips before doing a full blend) and it did its job fairly well. I don’t take ice much (one of those things I learned in my yoga practice – not too much cold stuff) so I just use cold water with my smoothies.

* Larger capacity – The BlendJet 2 can hold 16 oz (475ml) compared to the original which had a volume capacity of 12 oz (355ml). I put in 1 papaya slice and 2 small bananas with just one-third of the body filled with water and after blending, I already had a full 16oz smoothie.

* BPA-free body – It is heavy and almost feels like glass but it isn’t. It’s BPA-free plastic too.. Plus, there are measurements on the side of the body (the original BlendJet didn’t have these).

* USB-chargeable – The blender is chargeable via a USB cable using a USB-C (the original BlendJet used a micro USB connection). It takes about 1.5 hours to reach full charge.

* Battery life – The manufacturer says that you can go up to 15 20-second blends on a single charge. A review I saw says the BlendJet2 has a 4,000mAh battery while the original has a 2,000mAh battery.

* Blend, Pulse, and Lock modes – The normal mode is usually the Blend mode which blends your ingredients for 20 seconds. Pulse mode is good when trying to blend harder items like nuts and ice. Press the Power button twice to go into Pulse mode. You can do quick blends of a few seconds to cut down these hard items into smaller bits, much like a food processor, before going into full Blend mode. Lastly, when you need to travel and place the BlendJet into a bag or you are drinking straight from the BlendJet, hold down the Power button for 3 seconds to put it into Lock mode. This way, it won’t activate the blender even if you accidentally press the Power button.

* Measurement markings – The side of the BlendJet 2 has measurement markings in ml and ounce. This makes it easy for those following recipes to measure out portions. The original blender did not have these markings.

* Easy cleaning – To clean, just pour in some water around halfway. Add 1-2 drops of dishwashing liquid. Close the top.  Blend for one cycle. Pour out the soapy water. Fill again with plain water. Blend for a full cycle to remove the soapy water. Pour out and rinse any leftover soapy water carefully.

* Water-resistant – The blender can withstand some water but dunking into water is not advisable. Even the USB slot can take in some water so washing and rinsing the blender will not damage the blender even if you accidentally get some excess water dripping down its sides.

The BlendJet ships from the U.S. Surprisingly, it shipped almost immediately and I had it even before a week had gone by. One thing to note: While BlendJet itself has free shipping options, they ship via Fedex which charges for door-to-door delivery. I had to pay a little over P500 for that delivery.

The BlendJet 2 is now part of our day. My girl makes her iced coffee shake in the morning and I have my afternoon smoothie.
