How do you decide which Netflix show to watch?
Last Christmas, at a Netflix party for media, we got into discussions with the Netflix team from Singapore. They were eager to hear feedback from Netflix viewers in the Philippines. One of the issues I brought to them was my problem looking for good Netflix shows. I told them that I went by friends’ recommendations or if I happened to see posts on Netflix’s social media accounts. While there has always been a “Popular” row, the list was culled from popular choices globally and may not necessarily reflect the tastes of Filipinos.
What do you know? Now, there is a new row showing the “Top 10 in the Philippines Today”.
This list is updated daily and the position of where the row appears will vary depending on how relevant the shows and films that day are to you. In addition to the overall top 10 list, you’ll also be able to see the top 10 most popular series and top 10 films when you click on the movies and TV shows tabs.
Aside from this, shows and films that make these lists will also have a special “Top 10” badge wherever they
appear on Netflix.
When you browse by genre or your personal list, or even when doing a search of certain shows, you will see the badge on the top right.
Top 10 lists by country are slowly being rolled out globally. Netflix has been experimenting with this list in Mexico and the UK for the past six months or so. I’m happy that the Philippines is one of the countries chosen for early introduction of this feature.
Check out the new Top 10 list yourself. Thanks once again for being responsive to your viewers, Netflix!
