LEGO, the blocks of my kids’ childhood, is now in the Philippines!

LEGO is now in town!!!

The original building blocks brand just opened its doors to the Philippines. Located at Park Triangle, 11th Avenue corner Rizal Drive, Bonifacio Global City (same building as Kidzania), the first LEGO Certified Store promises to bring creativity back to a childhood that is now dominated by electronic games. My kids, especially my boys, grew up with LEGO blocks and I remember how quickly they learned to put things together. When they grew older, they started putting together other kinds of construction sets but LEGO was always the foundation that taught them to be creative with blocks.

The LEGO store sells kits which already contain all the parts you need to assemble the item. I lingered at the Star Wars section and just kept ogling the different Star Wars collectibles.

Sooooooh many Star Wars kits!!!

LEGO blocks are no longer a domain primarily for boys. The LEGO store now has blocks that are so endearing for little girls as well.

Like other LEGO Certified Stores, this store doesn’t just carry construction kits. Here are other features of the store:

* Pick A Brick (PAB) – Customers can buy LEGO elements individually. This allows greater flexibility and creativity as customers are not limited to forming just one item as you would in a kit. Pick A Brick blocks are sold per 100 grams for PhP 679.75.

* Build A Mini (BAM) – Customizable mini figures can be made by choosing a headwear, head, torso, legs and tools/accessories. Each BAM set includes 3 customizable figures. This is very useful when building LEGO villages or transport vehicles where you want to put customized figures.

* Monthly Mini Build (MMB) program – This is a hands-on monthly event. Kids, aged 6-14, are invited to build simple, seasonal and exclusive LEGO Store mini builds. No purchase is required. Kids will just be allowed to sit down on comfortable plastic stools and work on tables with individual blocks. Kids younger than 6 can also join in as long as an adult or guardian is present during the activity.

The kids just dove into the blocks!!!
Did you also know that there is a LEGO Users Group here in the Philippines? Apparently, they meet up monthly at a Jollibee branch in Libis. I was so fascinated when they brought a Pinoy LEGO village, complete with popular landmarks. Their attention to detail is just amazing!
The launch of the LEGO Certified Store was made even more meaningful because LEGO and LAJ Marketing Philippines Inc., in partnership with World Vision, are collaborating for the “Rebuild Classrooms Project”. This project aims to help children in target Area Development Programs to have access to learning facilities through the renovation and construction of classrooms and other school facilities.

The public could also do their share in helping rebuild classrooms specifically in Malabon by buying from the 5,000 pieces of the 30302 Spider-Man Glider V29 being made available to the public for only PhP 50.
