Coming May 2015: SkinMatters.com.ph website for all your skin concerns

This is a heads-up for those who love to google all things about skincare.

Starting May 1, 2015, a brand new local website totally dedicated to everything you’d want to know about skin will launch and it will have not only solutions for skin concerns but lots of how-tos and product recommendations. This is SkinMatters.com.ph.

Created in collaboration with Unilever, the Philippine Dermatological Society and an editorial team of skin care experts and writers headed by Editor-in-Chief Nicole Romero, SkinMatters.com.ph is a site for men and women. Why was it even created? Apparently, according to Google Trends, a significant number of online searches have to do with skin. Mian Datu-David, Unilever Philippines’ Marketing Director for Skin told us at the event “…we saw a need for knowledge and expertise on skin care that is readily available online…We wanted to give our consumers a comprehensive site where they could find the solutions to their skin concerns.”

Here are some photos to give you an idea of the content of SkinMatters.com.ph.

This is the home page.

Clara Ole will make sure everyone can cook!

In this day of dual-income households and fast-paced living, almost no one has the luxury of time to cook — unless your business is food or you are a chef by profession. The result? Fast food places are thriving as people drive through for one of those burgers, spaghetti or chicken pieces. Instant meals that are popped into the oven and served have also become popular. Not always healthy, mind you.

But what if you long also to have really tasty and healthier dishes that remind you of home-cooked meals? This is where Clara Ole comes in, with a wide range of pasta sauces, marinades, dips n’ dressings, vinaigrettes. And they even have syrups, jams and jellies as well to pair up with dessert items!

Make headaches go away 5 times faster with Panadol

Did you know that 7 out of 10 Filipinos suffer regularly from headaches? Nope, I didn’t know.

It could be our terrible summer heat here or just plain stressed out lifestyles but whatever is the cause, having a massive headache is definitely not fun and results in a wasted day with lots of unproductive down time.

Not with Panadol with Optizorb.

Mandaue Foam’s MF Lifestyle furniture line is for any lifestyle and for anyone

The name Mandaue Foam has always been associated with foam mattresses. And I thought that was all there was to them so I wondered why they were building this huge building along Shaw Boulevard. Did they need such a huge mattress showroom? Well I soon got my answer when I needed a mattress and decided to go get mine from their newly opened building.

To my surprise, I was met, not by stacks of mattresses, but by beautiful furniture for all kinds of rooms. All 3 floors of them! Foam mattresses were no longer their main source of business. They had expanded into lifestyle furniture!

It was just a matter of time before Mandaue Foam would introduce their MF Lifestyle furniture line to Metro Manila and I was glad to finally get to learn more about how a simple foam mattress manufacturer from (where else?) Mandaue City, Cebu, evolved into a lifestyle furniturer manufacturer.

GSK continues the fight by launching the Search for Winners Against Asthma 2015

The battle to win against asthma will never end. In the Philippines, over 10 million cases have been documented of people with asthma and it remains the most common chronic childhood disease. Children who suffer from asthma are oftentimes over-protected by parents and their activities are curtailed so as not to trigger an asthma episode.

I grew up with asthma in the family. My own asthma was not very bad but my sister’s was worse. All my kids also had childhood asthma. An aunt on my husband’s side died from an asthma attack. Asthma cannot be taken lightly as it can be fatal. But the good news is that it can be controlled.

Last year, GSK went on an all-out campaign to fight asthma.

Read my post on how one can still lead a great life even with asthma.

Aside from their brand ambassadors, Arnel Pineda of Journey and actress Kim Chiu, GSK now has a new brand ambassador — Olympic figure skater Michael Christian Martinez.

I had been following Michael’s journey all the way to the Olympics and knew that he indeed was an asthmatic. In past interviews, I remember Michael saying that the cold skating rink actually helped improve his health. His mom, who would accompany him to all his trainings and competition, was fully supportive of his sport and told Michael that she would rather “spend the money on skating than in the hospital”.

The Search for Winners Against Asthma

This year, GSK is taking the fight against asthma further by launching the Win Against Asthma Today advocacy campaign aimed at increasing awareness and amplifying efforts to spread information about the risks of asthma and how it can be controlled.

This time, they are looking for young asthmatic achievers who can show that one can live and pursue one’s passions in life despite having asthma.
