This pandemic has given me more time to binge-watch on TV and YouTube and guess what! I’ve come across videos of young showbiz celebrities doing tours of their brand new homes. Some of these people are just in their early 20s and they already own homes!

You may be thinking well, that is them. They earn a lot as actors/actresses. Does that mean an employee in a company earning a 5-digit monthly salary will need to wait to rise in the ranks and earn 6-digit salaries before even considering buying a house?

Heard of The Great Resignation? The Philippines is experiencing this phenomenon as well.

The COVID-19 pandemic has really changed people’s outlook when it comes to their careers. Employees reconsider their place in their organization, home, their life’s purpose, lifestyle, personal relationships, and mental/financial/material well-being.

According to JobStreet’s 2021 Global Talent Survey, 67% of Filipino employees have chosen to prioritize their health and well-being over work. In that survey, 53% of employees also would prefer keeping a remote work set-up even if it entails additional 10 hours of extra work per week;  41% would accept a lower salary as long as they can move to a more affordable location. 46% of those who resigned were Gen Z or millennials.
