The TV is called the “idiot box” because viewers are fed TV and cable shows — a one-way experience for us who sit for hours watching the news, movies, or our favorite teleseryes. Not anymore! Digital TV opens up viewers’ experiences, allowing viewers and content creators to interact with those in the studios and immersing you virtually in whatever show you are watching. You can do so much more with digital TV than with analog TV!

ABS-CBN launched the Pinoy Interactive Entertainment (PIE) channel last May 23.  PIE, the Philippines’ first multiscreen, real-time interactive TV channel, brings together BEAM, 917Ventures, tradigital entertainment company KROMA, and the country’s leading storyteller and content creator ABS-CBN. From 5 am to 2 am daily, PIE is accessible to 11 million digital TV households in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Zamboanga, Naga, Baguio, and nearby provinces through partner station BEAM.

While I do not make international shipments, I have experience with DHL Express, a leading international express service provider. For years now, many of my essential oils and supplements have been sentfrom the U.S. using DHL Express. I did try another shipper but had problems dealing with extra requirements when my package reached the Philippines. Not so with DHL Express. I need not worry about Customs and additional delivery fees. They deliver door-to-door. Plus, they have a website where you can easily track your shipment from shipping point to destination.

When a family member is inflicted with a critical illness, it affects the family budget. Treatment involves long-term medication as well as expensive medical procedures. I lived this experience firsthand when my husband got sick, underwent all sorts of medical procedures, drank all kinds of medicine and supplements, and took many years to fully recover.

According to a 2019 study by Mercer Marsh Benefits, critical illness cost in the Philippines is the second most expensive in South East Asia. Lung cancer treatment costs can cost up to PhP 2.78 million;  stroke costs can reach PhP 1.8 million; and suffering a heart attack could cost almost a million. This does not even include the potential loss of income while the family member is being treated and recuperating.

Philippine fisherfolk are not only among the poorest sectors in the Philippines; they are also the most vulnerable to natural hazards and extreme weather conditions. In 2020 alone, three consecutive typhoons devastated Lagonoy Gulf, heavily affecting fifteen municipalities. Whole fishing communities lost not only their homes but also their means of livelihood, their boats.

World Wide Fund (WWF) Philippines has worked with the fishers of Lagonoy Gulf for over a decade in establishing the country’s first sustainable Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified handline tuna fishery. Sustainable tuna fishing is the practice in this area. They are the country’s first small-scale fishers to achieve MSC certification.

Traveling is back! Make new and memorable memories with Singapore Airlines!

One of my most trusted airlines is Singapore Airlines. When I still used to travel a lot for work, my airline of preference, whenever it was possible, was Singapore Airlines (SIA). I felt safe flying with them and the service of the cabin crew was always superb.

The pandemic changed all travel plans for everyone for 2 years. But with our COVID cases so low now in the country and with so many countries,  with high vaccination rates, traveling has returned!
