Kleenex redefines softness with cucumber

There are brands that are passed on from generation to generation. In my family, Kleenex is one of them.

My family is a long-time user of Kleenex of most of its variants. Yes, we are now 3 generations of Kleenex users — from the time of my Mom who always had a Kleenex pack in her bag, to me growing up, and now to my kids who always have a travel pack in their bags. Since some of my kids (and I) have always had allergic rhinitis, tissue was a necessity. Even our cars have a box each too.

But here’s one confession I’ll make.
At some point in my married life, being a homemaker watching the family budget, I tried to switch to other brands that were cheaper. In my mind, tissue was tissue. Brand would not matter. So wrong! During my allergic rhinitis episodes, other brands that were apparently coarser, would create blisters right outside my nostrils so much faster. It really hurt!
So it was back to Kleenex and there we stayed.
When I got an invitation to the Kleenex event, I was really curious because the invitation looked like a cucumber.
True enough, cucumber extract is the main innovative ingredient that has been infused into the threads of all Kleenex products, making it so much softer. I can already attest to the softness because I took a sheet out of an opened Kleenex box with the infused cucumber extract. Then I took out a Kleenex sheet from the travel pack in my bag. Believe me, the new Kleenex is much softer and silkier to the touch. I had other bloggers feel the difference and they too attested to the great improvement.

Why did Kleenex decide to introduce the cucumber extract into their products? After all, they were already doing well as it was. Ritz Tan, Kleenex Family Care Senior Brand Manager had this to say, “Softer means cleaner, gentler, and refreshing. With cucumber extract, we developed a new softer-than-before Kleenex that’s sure to give women a soft gentle clean, enhancing her image to keep her looking fresh throughout the day.

This was the moving force behind Kleenex’s Face Anything event – to introduce a new softness that women can confidently take anywhere, use on any part of the body, and complement a woman’s lifestyle regardless of what field she is in.

At the Face Anything event, we got to meet the Kleenex brand ambassadors who led different lives and yet all used Kleenex.

All the brand ambassadors likewise said their Moms’ choice of Kleenex influenced them to continue using it. Divine Lee (socialite and model), Laureen Uy (fashion blogger) and Nicole Andersson (fashion blogger) shared how Kleenex helped them take makeup off when they would go from a photoshoot to a simpler event and how they appreciate its softness on their skin as they frequently put makeup on and take it off. Volleyball player Gretchen Ho’s active sporty life makes her appreciate Kleenex to wipe sweat off. She also has a show so Kleenex also helps her remove makeup gently. Cheska Kramer is a celebrity mom with young kids so she related how her use of Kleenex goes beyond the beauty world. Active kids will always get themselves into “dirty” situations so Cheska said she also uses Kleenex to constantly mop up after them.

I got to speak with some of the Kleenex brand team members and found out a few more things about the launch of this improved Kleenex brand.

* The cucumber extract will be found in ALL Kleenex tissue products
* You’ll see new packaging to reflect nature: leaves, cotton flowers, droplets of water
* Their manufacturing process had to undergo changes to incorporate the cucumber extract
* There will be NO INCREASE IN PRICE even with the improved cucumber-infused variants
